Frank excelled in sports at Dos Palos High School graduating in 1958. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Before retiring in 2008 from the City of Fresno, Department of Public Utilities, Sewer Division, Frank was a truck driver for U.S. Cold Storage, Jack Frost Ice and Scholastic Book Fairs. He will be remembered for playing semi pro football with the Fresno Raiders; assistant coach to the Pop Warner Fresno High Redskins and Madera Bengals football teams; and assistant coach to the Madera Rancho Little League baseball team. His favorite past time was reading and keeping up his quarter acre yard. He was an avid 49er and Notre Dame football fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Virginia Mello.
Frank is survived by Georgette, his wife of 42 years; daughter, Yvonne; son, Shane and his wife Emily; daughter, Andrea and her husband Wade Venemen. He was grandpa to Sydney, Lilly, Morgan, Brandon, Jaydon and Haylee.
Visitation will be held at Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home on Thursday, January 27, 2011 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. followed by Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church on Friday, January 28, 2011 at 10:00 a.m.
Interment will be held at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, Santa Nella, Ca. on Monday, January 31, 2011 at 1:30 p.m.
