She passed away on July 29, 2012 in Fresno after a 31/2 year battle against leukemia. Flora worked for the City of Fresno for over 31 years.
Flora worked with several departments throughout the City and touched the lives of many people. She worked 1 year at Parks, 25 years in Utilities, 5 years in Code Enforcement and retired May 15, 2010.
Flora was the first female Field Supervisor in the Utilities Division. Flora was full of energy and loved being active. She was friendly, outgoing, and made friends wherever she went. Flora's bright smile, warm heart and enthusiastic spirit will live on through our many memories of her.
Flora was married to Dennis Bell on May 25, 1985. Flora and Dennis enjoyed traveling the country with their dog, Bruno, and especially loved spending time at their second home in San Felipe, Baja California, Mexico. Flora was preceded in death by her father, Francisco, and her sister, Nora Alcantar.
She is survived by her husband, Dennis; her granddaughter, Melissa Tidwell; her son, Elias Garza Jr. and his companion Teresa and her daughters Dahlia and Julissa; her mother Socorro Garza; brothers, Manual, Art, Alfred, and Andrew; sisters, Lupe Thomas and Francis Rodriguez, and their spouses. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Lisle Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
A Graveside Service will be held at Fresno Memorial Gardens on Wednesday August 8, 2012 at 10:00 a.m.
A Memorial Service and luncheon will be held at the Edison Social Club immediately following the Graveside Service.
