74 years young today.

So many cherished memories, but there is one that only her and I share.

There was a time when we lived with my Grandma in Mendota and I attended the local elementary school. My mom worked in Fresno, and Grandma watched my little brother during the day.

I rode the bus home everyday and, of course, my stop was the very last stop everyday. My days were long. But EVERYDAY my Grandma stood outside and waited for me to get off the bus.

Until, one day...

...I fell asleep! I was slumped over in my seat just snoozing away. And because I was slumped over the bus driver hadn't noticed me so he just kept driving past my stop.

*PAUSE: If you know my grandma, the LAST thing you should do is frighten her *

So when the bus didn't stop she started chasing after the bus and yelling and screaming and waving her her hands in the air...she was in complete panic mode!

In his rear view mirror the bus driver could see her chasing the bus.

I was enjoying a delightful nap when all the sudden the bus driver woke me up. My first thought: I'm in big trouble! And I was. Rightfully so.

Her grandchildren mean EVERYTHING to her.

She has shown a love beyond measure.

Unconditional love.

Selfless love.

Tough love.

She's THE strongest woman I know, and will ever know.

This is Felicia's Grandmother, Augustina Galeizicia, with Felicia's sister Lupe. 

Grandma,

I have been holding off on writing this message because it feels like I’m saying goodbye. But in my heart, I know that is not true. I want to start by saying that it has been an honor and a privilege to be granddaughter for the past 35 years. So much of who I am is because of you. 

I want to thank you for loving all of us unconditionally, never giving up on us, and being the epitome of strength. I will miss your warm smile and soft touch. I will miss you whispering secrets in my ear. I will miss the twinkle in your eye whenever I visited. Our world is less bright without you.

But as you have taught us: we must never give up. You wouldn't want us to give up because you aren’t here; you would want us to Live. You would want us to persist! And though we cannot see you, I know your spirit is always with us, and help us to remember that. Keep showing us signs.

Thank you for telling me goodbye; we will see each other again.

Felicia's Journal Entry: Juanita Rocha was a good friend for 28 years. We met when Irene & Margaret were 6 months old. I still think of her all the time, I miss her a lot still. She was so good, she loved all my children. I cry for her in my heart, Goodbye Juanita and until I see you again.

Felicia's Journal Entry: Today is May 23, 1990 our daughter graduation from high school after four years of waiting for her diploma she did it after all. Now it's just Ernest, he's next to get his diploma.  All my family will have a diploma, we are so proud of our sons and daughters, what they have done in this time of their lives with God's help they will do it.

Felicia's Journal Entry: In 1967 I bought an antique sewing machine from Frances Mendoza she sold it to me for $20.00 dollars; its a Singer.

Felicia's Journal Entry: Today is Nov. 19, 1993, your dad took me to the VMC Hospital because I had a bladder infection and they took blood and the doctors told me I had diabetes.

Felicia's Journal Entry: Mary Medina, I love working with her in the fields because she made me laugh all the time. I loved her for that, she was a good friend.

Nana,
     So, this was really difficult for me, same as for everyone else. I know and feel you looking down seeing me cry from every so often but its only because of course i miss you as much as I love you Grandma, how could I not cry when I use to sleep between you and tata when I was very little. I was always at your house the most out of all our family. You use to take me to work with you. Remember we couldn't wait until it was time for pomegranates to grow yumm..That was a memory to not ever forget or times my cousins and I would climb on your trees having you worried of getting hurt and you'd get us in trouble. Couldn't forget that one. One thing I can say I regret not doing to this day is learning how to make homemade tortias nana. You tried showing me but i didn't learn. You made the best homemade tortias ever along with everything and anything you cooked was so good. I thank God for giving me my chance with you before he carried you to heaven. I'm very thankful. You were so happy for me about getting my car and job you had to face that I'm not little anymore nana you were always there for me. Always... The feeling I felt when I seen you cry happily asa you seen my dad Tino, you couldn't believe it. That gave me a butterfly feeling grandma we surprised you. You always loved purses, elephants and jewelry. One big piece I carry of you to always keep. Thank you God for my chance to give nana plenty of kisses my last day with her until we see each other again and seeing her smile. I can still hear your beautiful voice. I have my days where I want to go visit you to talk to you about anything as usual and that's what's giving me a hard time. I always said you're going to live forever, though I'm happy you're in no more pain. Its so hard with you away and I can't kiss or hug you when I want or need to. You loved our babies and we all love you nana forever you'll be missed until we see you again. You were like a mom to me❤🙏

Dear Grandma,
God has finally taken you to sing with the angels. We are glad you are not in pain anymore but now we are in pain. You were the glue that held this family together. We have such fond memories of you. You made time for all your children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and gave us all such special memories that can’t be taken. You will always be in my heart. I know I can’t see you anymore, hug or kiss you but I know I can still talk to you whenever I need to.  My favorite memories are when you lived in Mendota and you and grandpa would have BBQ's in your back yard and everyone would be there and we would have the best time just hanging out. I'll forever cherish those memories. I know we still have a lot of tears left to cry with every holiday and birthday you're not around but each new day will get better for all of us. I know you wouldn't want us to be sad, but instead celebrate your life. I feel so blessed you were in my life and I was able to call you my grandma. I love and miss you. You will always be in my thoughts and I can’t wait till the day I see you again.

My Beloved Mother,
It's Peewee I'm sitting in my kitchen 10/14/2018, it's 2:04 P.M. I miss you so much  that it hurts. I hope that I was a good Daughter to you. I tried the best in my Life to make your happy and be there for you. I remember when I was pregnant and I was in the hospital and I called you and I told you that I  needed you next to me because I was scared, you came and stood with me and you got to see your first granddaughter. You were the happiest Grandma it changed our Lives forever. Its so hard going on without you, you were my Strength, I pray to God  that he will give me the Strength that you had to keep our Family together. I never thought that this was the time that God was going to take you with him. I realized he needed you because he needed more Angels, Your a Beautiful Angel now. I will be forever thankful for the Mother God gave me. You told me to always be strong and work hard to make your life easier. You were proud of me when I had my own Business, I remember you telling me if you believe in yourself you can do anything. I will treasure those words. You taught me to be a good person and to be humble to others, you knew I had a good Heart. When my time comes, ask God to send an Angel for me, so I can be in Beautiful Heaven with you.

i love you and miss you so much. I thank God that he allowed me to spend twenty six years of my life with you & I will always cherish the moments we’ve had together. Nana, where do I begin. I always hated to think about when this day would come because I couldn’t imagine life without you in it. I miss you everyday and they say it gets easier but I’m not ready to let go, but I also know that you are at peace now and that makes me happy. I am saddened by the loss of Mama Ramirez she will forever be in my heart. When I first met her and family she received me with all her warmth and kindness. She treated me like a son and so did her husband Paul. And I respected and loved her like my own mom. I will always remember the time we all would go to the casinos when I would visit especially Chumash. She had the most incredible luck 😊. Her words stick in my head when she won at that casino "toomuchsh" meaning how much she was winning at Chumash. Her smile and laughter would brighten your heart. I miss that. I love you Mama Ramirez!! There is so much to remember and I keep them with me every day. Though she is no longer here she is always on my heart. Though I am sad I am rejoicing that she is with our lord. My thoughts and prayers are with Ernie and the whole Ramirez family. Much love to all of you.

Mom your legacy will live forever. Through your kids, grandchildren and great grandchildren. I personally will carry on your legacy by always living, loving life as you have always thought me to do. I am enternity grateful for showing me how to cook all your favorite dishes and more. You thought me how to be independent how to survive alone. Everything you have thought me is priceless and treasured. I love you mom and you will be missed everyday! I look forward to the day you come for me so I can hold you in my arms...

It's me Cassie. I want to let you know that I love you very much.  I miss your beautiful smile and I miss your laugh.  You are the most important person I have in my life.  I have learned much from you in my 32 years of living.  I have learned compassion,  loyalty,  love, respect,  forgiveness, and most of all kindness towards everyone.  I will always teach your 5 great grandchildren the same values you have shown me.  
My heart is at a loss without you in my sight but I know that you will always be a part of my life and values because I have learned them from you.  You are the greatest grandmother anyone could have and the world was always jealous because I had you for my grandma.  I love you with all my heart and soul.  You mean the world to me . 
I know that you are watching me from the Heavens and you are with me in spirit so I will do my best every-day to make you proud and always take good care of your great grand children.  
Nana , take care and be happy.  You will always be missed and remembered in my family.  You will see us when it is our time and it will be the greatest joy to be reunited with you one day in the Heavens.  Rest now nana,  you are the greatest nana in the world . This will always be one of my favorite memories of my nana (abuela). When me and my brother did our confirmations, my mom didn't have extra money to buy us nice clothes for our ceremony. My grandmother insisted that we drive to Fresno from Mendota the day before our ceremony. We went to Mervyn's and my nana (abuela) bought us the good dress shoes and socks,  a belt pants and a shirt. She spent over $200 on me and my brother just so we felt what it was to have good clothes on a joyus religious experience. She sat in the front row on my ceremony and cried as we were confirmed. Afterwards we went to her house and we had a BBQ with her famous salsa and rice and home-made tortillas. I will always love you nana (abuela). You are now watching over me, and I always made you proud but I will make you more proud I promise. Love you forever. Muah. Until I see you again,  I love you.

In July, make abuela Felicita we went to Storyland and Playland to make new memories with her daughter Linda,  her husband Paul and grandkids and great grandkids. She witnessed her family have fun just like when she took her kids many years ago. The smile on Felicitas face was so beautiful and warmed your heart and soul. She talked about how she use to see her kids have fun and that made her happy, knowing that her children,  grandchildren and great grandchildren had memories to share with her. We love you nana and will miss you forever.
