Evaristo Cerda Reyes was born August 10, 1930, in Texas. Raised by his mother, Teodora Cerda Reyes, the family moved to Arizona when Evaristo was very young. Evaristo was raised with several brothers and sisters. They all lived together with his mother’s parents. At the age of 18, Evaristo was drafted in the United States Army and fought in the Korean War. He was always very proud of his military service.
After the war, Evaristo settled in Salinas, Ca. He had 5 children with his first wife. Evaristo worked as a labor foreman for Harden Farms in the area between Gilroy and Salinas California from the 1970s until the mid 1990s, when the company went out of business. He met his wife, Mary Reyes, at work in 1976. They were married January 28th 1978. In 1980, Evaristo and Mary moved to Salinas. Together they raised a pug named “Boo”. Evaristo worked part time at Home Depot for several years before eventually retiring. Evaristo and Mary had many friends, and enjoyed many years of life together. In 2005, they moved to Coalinga, living out the remainder of their lives together.
A visitation for Evaristo will be held Wednesday, January 3, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Whitehurst Sullivan Burns & Blair Funeral Home, 836 E. Nees Ave., Fresno, CA 93720. A funeral service will occur Thursday, January 4, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Whitehurst Sullivan Burns & Blair Funeral Home.
