Epifanio Garcia Vargas was born and raised in Laton, California in a house full of brothers and sisters. He finished school in Laton. After his school years he worked doing farm labor until he served in the Army from1952 to1954.
Epifanio was trained to use a .50 caliber machine gun as a Rifleman in the Korean War.
He earned several service medals:
*Combat Infantry badge
*Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars
*United Nations Service Medal
*National Defense Service Medal
After he was discharged from active duty he served in the Army Reserves until 1972. When he returned from active duty he married and had 3 children; Susan, Mark and Lisa.
He worked as a maintenance mechanic for 27 years at the Sunnyside Golf Course in Fresno, Ca and retired in 1992.
On December 14, 1991 Pano married Lily and together they positively affirmed their love for each other every day for 25 years.
Epifanio “Pano” and “Papa Pano” was a loving father to his 3 children and to Lily’s 7 children. Papa Pano enjoyed being with his 22 grandkids and 20 great grandkids. Pano served with Lily as a Eucharist Minister for 8 years at St. Helen's Church in Fresno Ca. He thoroughly enjoyed singing the hymn “Cordero De Dios”.

A visitation for Epifanio will be held Monday, November 6, 2017
from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Lisle Funeral Home,
Recitation of the holy Rosary will be Monday, November 6, at 7pm, at Lisle Funeral Home.
Funeral Mass will occur Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at 10:30 AM at St. John's Cathedral.
Final resting place will occur Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at Clovis District Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers; Al Vargas, Mark Vargas, Glenn Sherman, Augie Soltero , Chino Soltero, Rodney Balch, Paul Nava.
Honorary Pallbearers; Casey Sherman, Joshua Vargas, Seth Vargas , Bryce Byers, Oscar Paul Soltero, Rob Sparks, Andrew Balch, Paul Thomas Nava and Austin Soltero.
