Elvie King Jones

Born January 4, 1946, ninth of eleven children to Ike and Mary Jones Sr., of Saint Joseph, Louisiana. He was baptized at an early age by the Late Rev. A. E. Durham at The New China Grove B.C. of Saint Joseph, Louisiana, where he remained a faithful member. He attended Delta Bridge Elementary and Tensas Rosenwald High School, where he met his childhood sweetheart Shirley Jean Wilkins. They entered into Holy Matrimony and relocated to Los Angeles, California to embark upon a life for themselves. No children were born into this union. They remained married until she preceded him in death.

Later, he relocated to San Francisco, California where he met Sherry Ann Carter in 1985 and married in 1987. Through this union, he and Sherrie raised four children and one grandchild. They remained married until his death July 28, 2018.

Elvie (Charles), was a member of The Fellowship M.B.C. of Fresno, California where he remained a faithful and dedicated member of the church as well as the Male Chorus and the Senior Choir until his death. Elvie (Charles), had a beautiful voice and loved to sing, we know that he is now singing and leading solos in the heavenly choir of God.

He was a hard worker and loved everyone he met, he never met a stranger.

Elvie (Charles), also affectionately known as “Chief", will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. A loving husband, father, grandfather brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He leaves to celebrate his life his wife Sherrie, four children and one grandchild. Four siblings: Vernon Henry Jones (Boot) of Compton, California, Atlas Jones (A.J), of Hemet, California, Joshua Jones (Josh), of Houston, Texas, sister Alberta Jones (Chick) of Inglewood, California, two sisters-in-law’s along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
