January 12, 1932 – December 15, 2022
Our beloved mother and grandmother, Elizabeth, passed away after a long and steady decline. Born on January 12, 1932, she was the daughter of Beverly Hills psychoanalyst David Brunswick and his wife Dorothea. After attending Mills College in Oakland, she worked as a secretary for Desilu studios. She married Jack Schmitz in 1955 and together they had three children, Scott Allen, Sandra Louise, and Sara Lee. During this time Elizabeth worked as a legal secretary in Pasadena. After divorcing her first husband, she began pursuing her love of dancing in earnest and she met her second husband Ray Gipson while taking dancing lessons. They married in 1979 and moved up to Exeter where she began working as a legal secretary in Visalia. She divorced Ray shortly after her retirement in 1995. Her lifelong love of dancing led her to join the Visalia Smooth Dancers where she met her third husband Howard A. Fackler, Sr. They were married at the Exeter Memorial Building on March 9, 1997. Sadly, he passed away at their home in Exeter on April 26, 2004, but while she never remarried, she had gained a stepson, Howard Fackler, Jr., and Howard’s extended family. In her later years, Elizabeth lived at several nursing homes and was frequently visited by her children and granddaughter, Cassandra. She finally died sometime during the early hours of December 15, 2022 and is survived by sons Scott A. Schmitz of Burbank and Howard Fackler, Jr. of Exeter, and daughters Sara L. Savary of Fresno, Sandra L. Hay and her husband Arthur Hay of Merced, and granddaughter Cassandra B. Hay.
