She, was born on February 2, 1936 in Pecos, Texas to Pedro and Carolina Lara Subia.
Elia is survived by her husband of 40 years, Julian "Julio" Hernandez; her children: Lonnie Barbosa, Frankie Barbosa, Mary Lou Rodriquez, Perfecto Barbosa, Jr. and Elizabeth Guardado. Her daughters and son in laws, her grandchildren, great grandchildren, her sister Betty Ybarra.
Elia retired after 34 years from Fresno Unified as a health aide for Migrant Program.
A visitation for Elia will be held Thursday, September 23, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Whitehurst Sullivan Burns & Blair Funeral Home - 836 E. Nees Ave., Fresno, CA 93720 , followed by Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 PM.
Mass of Christian Burial will occur Friday, September 24, 2021 at 10 AM at St Mary Queen of Apostles, 4636 W. Dakota Ave., Fresno, CA 93722. Interment to follow at St. Peter's Cemetery.
