Elena De La Torre Pineda, age 86, of Clovis, California, was born April 15, 1935. She passed away on Saturday, October 9, 2021. Mrs. Pineda was born in Fresno, CA; she was married to the love of Gilbert M. Pineda for 55 years.
Elena is survived by her children: Jim Hernandez Jr, John B. Pruitt, Mary Hernandez Jennings, Richard A. Hernandez and preceded in death of her youngest son Joseph Gilbert Pineda. They both have 11 Grandchildren, 11 Great-Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great Grandson.
She was a retired counselor for the Ca St Diagnostic Ctr. for Neurologically Handicapped Children and owner of The Book Lady at Crafters Palace in Fresno, CA. Elena loved the NFL LV Raiders having traveled to many professional games. She was a seamstress in her youth, sewing wedding gowns, formals, and Christmas parade costumes. She loved animals, gardening her prized winning Roses, music, dancing and was a Wonderful Cook! She took extreme pride of our Country, the American Flag, and was a God loving proud Conservative. Elena inspired the values of Family Unity, Friendships, Love and Faith in God. Elena is preceded in death by parents Gustavo & Maria De La Torre, brothers Tony, Richard, Frank De La Torre. She is survived by her brother John “Ruben” Guillen, sister Isabel Huerta and brother Joseph De La Torre.
Mrs. Pineda's funeral service will be Friday, November 5, 2021 from 9:00 AM at Whitehurst Sullivan Burns & Blair Funeral Home, 836 E. Nees Ave., Fresno, CA 93720. After the funeral, there will be internment at St. Peters Cemetery, 264 N Blythe, Fresno, CA 93706. A Celebration of Life will be scheduled in 2022.
