Eddie was born in Fresno on January 16, 1943. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Thursday, July 8, 2010. He was co-owner of Mazzei Nursery which he started with his brother Leon in 1965.
Eddie was the youngest son of Mary and Joseph Mazzei. He graduated in 1961 from Washington Union High School. After high school, he worked in frozen produce delivery then in the military for four months before being discharged for hardship. Upon returning he started farming with his father and brother.
Dad taught everybody that loving your family was priority. He always had a way with people and had a friendly, positive spirit. He lived for football season and tailgating with all of his cousins at the Fresno State football games. He also enjoyed cooking, spending as much time as he could with his "little angels", and he had traveled many places within his lifetime.
All the family and friends that knew Eddie can now take comfort in knowing that he is healthy again and is a true angel in God's company.
His father, Joseph; his mother Mary; and infant brother Dino preceded him in death.
Eddie is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Jon Parnagian; their children "his little angels", Gabriella and Chase Parnagian; son, Dino; former wife Andrea; brother and sister-in-law, Leon and Mary Jean Mazzei; and brother and sister-in-law Lawrence and Lana Mazzei of San Diego.
Visitation will be held at Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 14, 2010, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary and a Celebration of his life will be held at the Shrine of St. Therese Catholic Church on Thursday, July 15, 2010, at 10:30 a.m.
