Ed graduated from Kerman High School in 1935, and immediately enrolled at Central California Commercial College (4Cs College) to earn his degree in Accounting. After earning his degree, he went to work in 1936, for Security Bank and continued to take business and accounting courses throughout his career. After 43 years at Security Bank, he retired in 1979, as Vice President and Manager. For the next 15 years, Ed worked for Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home.
Ed had a life long relationship with families in our community and service organizations. He was President of the American Institute of Banking; President of the Credit Managers Association; President of East Fresno Optimist Club; member of the Fresno County and City Chamber of Commerce; member of the Bulldog Foundation; the Fresno Board of Realtors; Roosevelt High School Boosters Organization; Sacred Heart Church Council; and an active member of the congregation at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Each and every day, he modeled the core values of character and integrity. His daughter Carol often was reminded by many that her Dad did business on a handshake, and it was always repaid.
In their spare time, Ed and Flo were members of the Horseless Carriage Club where he served as President. At any one time, the two of them always owned at least two antique automobiles. They enjoyed restoring them and participating in a variety of activities with their fellow club members.
Our family would like to extend a thank you to Dad's primary care physician, Dr. Dennis Nakata, and his staff; the communities at the Windham Senior Living; San Joaquin Gardens; and Nancy Hinds Hospice, for their wonderful care and kindness shown to our Dad and Grandfather.
We also want to thank Don and Sally Cardell, for being involved in Mom and Dad's lives over the years.
Ed is survived by Florian, his loving wife of 73 years; his sons, Dennis and his wife Donna, Gerald and his wife Barbara, and Thomas and his wife Maria; his daughter, Carol and her husband William Hansen; his cherished grandchildren, Kimberly, Scott and his wife Jennifer, and Kevin and his wife Rebecca; and two extraordinary great-grandchildren, Alexis and Braden.
