Doris "Dottie" Diener died at her home surrounded by her loving family on December 19th after fighting a 3 1/2 year battle with cancer. Dottie was born in Fresno on July 27, 1932 to Florence Silvas and Marshall Montgomery. In her teens she met and started dating the love of her life, Frank Diener, they married Sept. 20, 1952. From there through hard work and an abundance of love they built a life that many dream of. In 1953 Dottie gave birth to their daughter, Shelly. This small yet perfect family made endless memories on "the ranch". In 1973 Frank and Dottie gained a son when Shelly married Larry Rompal. In 1975 she took on a new career with the official title of "Nana" when her first grandchildren were born. This was to be her dream job and one she excelled in. Dottie was best known for her honesty, loyalty, and love for her family and friends. She spent her life as a homemaker and could be found daily whipping up amazing meals in her favorite room, the kitchen. She was also quite handy with an iron and a tractor. If Dottie wasn't in her kitchen, spending time with her family she was beside Frank in their motor home traveling the country. New friends were made in every neck of the woods along side many wonderful memories. Dottie also had a special passion for slot machines and fishing which she passed on to her daughter Shelly. This was a bond between the two that lasted until the end. They were known to pull off many all nighters in front of a slot machine or fishing off the dock at Bass Lake. Dottie's greatest joy came from growing old with her "kids" . Her world revolved around her three granddaughters, two son-in-laws and three great grandchildren. She never failed to make every occasion special and memorable. Dottie was known as Aunt Dot to many and was everybody's Nana. In her her 84 years she touched many lives. Her spiritual outlook on life made it easy for all to turn to her for advice or in times of need. She was a great listener and extremely honest and true to her beliefs. She was never afraid to tell it like it was and was respected for keeping it real. Dottie is survived by her one true love (and we mean we're talking "The Notebook" style love) Frank, her daughter and best friend Shelly and son-in-law Larry Rompal, granddaughters Kisha Rebensdorf, Nicole Pearson and Laren Rompal, 2 son-in-laws that she loved dearly, Randy Rebensdorf and Justin Pearson, her deeply cherished great grandchildren Huntly and Dex Rebensdorf and Dottie Mae Pearson...the kids that kept her young and spunky. Also left behind are her sweet nieces Carolyn and Kendelyn Lane, siblings Jean Lane, Norman Hall and Jack Hall and many others she loved dearly. A special thanks goes out to Dr. Ravi Rao and his staff for his continued dedication in his caring for Dottie, Dr. Tegest Hailu her friend and confidant, Hinds Hospice and all the caring nurses, doctors and staff at Saint Agnes Hospital.
Remembrances can be made to Hinds Hospice or Saint Jude's Children's Hospital. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, December 28 at 10AM at New Hope Community Church in Clovis, California. Whitehurst Funeral Home is in charge of services.
