In July, we celebrated Judy and Charles's birthdays. We enjoyed being with our Mom in The Bistro at the Windham, where she was so happy. We played bingo after the birthday party lunch. Our family played many bingo and domino games with our Mom. Happy Memories!!!

Our Mom will be missed so very much. Daughter's Bonnie and Sherry put up decorations in August, a month in advance of her 96th birthday, which was September 3rd. She was a very special, kind, thoughtful, and generous person. We cannot imagine life without her.

So glad that we reconnected up with Aunt Doris, Sherry, and Bonnie and got to know Charles and Mike too. 

My aunt Doris always made me feel special. She always met me with open arms. One time I was driving to the mall, making a left and all of a sudden someone was honking their horn like crazy! I look behind to see what’s going on and it’s my aunt Doris! She follows me to Del Amo where we end up going shopping and getting something to eat!

Great-Grandma went home September 15th,2022.  We know Jesus was there to take her home because He promised “whenever two or more are gathered in my name, there I AM in their midst.” We will miss our visits and so many things.  She was a welcoming, kind, loving soul and you felt loved just being around her.  She was truly part of the greatest generation, hardworking, wise and a good person.  One memory that sticks is when we’d visit on a Sunday and one of us would say “we have to go to work tomorrow” and she’d say “you get to go to work tomorrow”Whenever we would leave she would say, “you come back soon now” She loved her plants and gardening, her yard was beautiful and green, full of flowers.  She always asked about my family and after my Daddy died she always asked about my mom and she genuinely cared about the answer.  Covid made it hard to see her for awhile, but as soon as we could see her again we did.  So many sweet memories of her and Grandpa, visits at their house, sitting for a chat about nothing in particular.  She loved to talk about Meerkat Manor, a favorite show of hers, or how many fish they caught last time they went fishing, or a funny thing their cats were up to, a relative they visited or someplace they had gone to eat.  Sharing a meal out or bringing over Chipotle or a Diccicos Supreme pizza to share.  We will treasure all those little moments.  We love you so much and we will see you soon.  Thank you for all the stories and memories you shared with Laina.  We will love you always.

Mommy was a wonderful mom and grandma.  We brought her often to Eric's for family barbecues.  Mom loved hotdogs and we always had them on the menu for her.  She was a joy and we were blessed to have in our lives and we will miss her so much.

Mommy was so proud of my attempts at water colors.  She was such a loving supportive mom.  We had fun shopping together.  She loved hot dogs.  We had lots of barbecues at Eric's and always has some hot dogs for Mommy.  

One of my visits with Mommy.   Sheri and Bonnie made beautiful decorations for  her doorway.  It was such a joy to talk with her and watch Simba play or just watch a Hallmark movie together.

Grandmas vs Google. The whole worlds main source of information is at your fingertips...Google. Just 20 years ago that wasn't the case. It is incredible how we have become the Borg (Sci Fi geeks will get that) How we have become ONE with the machine. Before we all became dependent on Google to tell us everything under the sun I KNOW our brains were wired and trained differently. We learned very differently...actually LEARNED. And the generation before MY time-and all throughout history before that people learned from their elders. Old folks were valued differently than now. Moms and Grandmas wearing aprons sat on porches snapping beans with little children telling stories and talking about the world and family and life. Dads and Grandpas stood in barns and split kindling with youngsters giving lessons. Maybe 100 or 200 years ago your people were town dwellers and the kids apprenticed at their place of work. Its fun to think about and at the same time sad. No one sits and listens to grandmas any more .  Today my grandma lives in a very lovely place with her own apartment but finds herself lonely.  The dining-room is closed.  The entertainment calendar is bare.  The gym is empty.  I find myself talking to her more often on the phone.  Im pretty lucky that Im almost 50 and have a grandma to chat with.   She will be 94 this year. Every time I talk to her I get a little peek into her life as a kid. Twenty five years ago I visited her old home place and SAW that one room school house, the log cabin church and the meager home she grew up in.  It was nothing more than a shack in a field with no doors or windows and cattle taking refuge from the sun standing inside. So here is my point about the Google thing..I can read books and articles about the Ozarks in the 1930s.  I CANNOT learn about what it was like growing up in that time and place, hear the smile in a persons voice when they remember something funny.  I cannot hear the worry in a persons voice re telling the story:

I was so sorry to hear of Aunt Doris’s passing-I have such fond memories of her visits and appreciated so much how she kept in contact with Mom up til just about the end.  Sending love and prayers to you all…

I believe this was circa 2005 when Leo, Steph and I came out to visit!
