Donald August Kemmer

He was born in Fresno on October 3, 1927, to August and Kristine Kemmer. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Nancy, and his children Jeff (Malynda), Katie Segale (John) and Elizabeth Shellworth (Peter). He is also survived by 8 grandchildren: Michael, Mathew and Kristine Kemmer, Annie & Abby Segale and Joe, Sally & Mary Kate Shellworth.

Don was a graduate of Central High School and Fresno State University, where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.

He served proudly in the US Navy during WWII and had the distinction of also serving in the US Army Reserves and US Air Force ROTC.

Don spent a long and respected career in the agricultural industry. In the early 1960s, he was one of the founders of Valley Nitrogen Producers. He owned several local Ag retail and manufacturing businesses and was an avid farmer and gardener.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, October 20 at the Smitcamp Alumni House on the FSU campus.
