Dolores A. Ybarra, was born in La Mesa, New Mexico in 1941 on April 4th the seventh child and only daughter to the parents of Antonio and Desideria Alvarado. Mom, would always remind us of her
many wonderful adventures of growing up especially the stories of her picking cotton and grapes
with her brothers.
Mom, began her life of learning at Houghton Kearney elementary grade school; later attending
Washington Union High where she earned her High School diploma and met the love of her life
Richard F. Ybarra.
Mom worked for West Fresno Elementary School as a teacher Assistant for 28 years and she loved
her job. Mom has always been a care giver to others and especially to her family. She spent her days
nurturing and caring for others day in and day out. She was a woman with a heart of gold that was
constantly striving to help her loved ones. If she lectured you it was because she cared about you,
if she yelled at you to was because she wanted the best out of you, and if she smacked you then
you probably deserved it. A strong willed woman who taught you how to be tough just by being in
her presence. “Don’t cry, be tough” as she would often say. Well we are trying our best grandma, we
just really miss you!
Dolores, is survived by her husband Richard Ybarra of 60 years, Four Children; Richard Ybarra, Jr. Patricia Ybarra, Rachel Y. Ybarra-Brandt her husband Phillip, and Michael M. Ybarra.
Eight wonderful grandchildren: Matthew V. Ybarra, Phillip W. Ybarra-Brandt, Richard M. Ybarra-Brandt,
