Its with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Dolores Leon Rodriguez on December 22, 2023, after her long courageous battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Dolores was the oldest child to Roberto and Angelina Leon and was born in Tijuana Mexico on December 15, 1945. Dolores and her parents and younger sister Alica moved to Fresno CA, when she was a young toddler. Dolores grew up in Fresno and graduated from Edison High School Class of 1964 and graduated from Fresno City College in 1966, with an associate degree in business administration.
Dolores started her career as a clerical worker with Bank of America at Fresno Main office in 1965, by accident. Dolores actually was hired as a teller at the Fresno Street Bank of America branch. Dolores asked for the hiring manger and Jim Andreotti advised Dolores she was at the wrong branch. Jim was impressed with Dolores demeanor and gave Dolores a typing and math test, and so began her outstanding career with Bank of America and retired with the tile Vice President of West Coast operations, after 42 years of service. Dolores considered her B of A coworkers family, most of her co-workers witnessed Dolores start her career as a single, quiet, and timid individual, only to evolve as a dedicated worker but also as a wife, mother and grandmother.
After retiring from Bank of America, Dolores took some time off to care for her parents then went back to work Part time with Primer Valley Bank for 5 years.
After officially retiring, it was apparent that Alzheimer's was taking its toll. Despite her diagnosis, Dolores demonstrated resilience, determination, persistence but most of all courage. To get through life, to get up when you are knocked down to deal with the setbacks and disappointments of her disease. Dolores fought the good fight and, in the end, left us on her own terms.
Dolores is survived by her husband of 50 years Jose Rodriguez. Siblings: Sister Alicia and husband Norbert Freitas, Brothers Roberto Jr and Spouse Sarah Leon, Jose Luis and Spouse Sandra Leon. William and Spouse Michele Leon, and Sister Theresa and Spouse Tony Gonzales.
