He was born in Merced, CA, to Dolores and William Zurilgen. He graduated from California State University, Fresno with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History, and a secondary teaching credential upon which he took a job teaching in Kingsburg, CA. After two years, he entered the life insurance business, partnering with his father to work with clients in the Central Valley.
David will be remembered by his friends and family for his astonishing knowledge of classic films and his passion for trout fishing in nearby streams and lakes. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
David is survived by his wife Lorna; their three daughters and their husbands, Licia and Russ Morrow, Sara and Bryan Pokorny, and Erin and Brian O'Roak; as well as six grandchildren, Savanna, Charlie, Parker, Jack, Griffin, and Axel; his sister, Cheryl Rutter; and brother, Jeff Zurilgen.
A Funeral Service will be held at Whitehurst, Sullivan Burns & Blair Funeral Home on Saturday, April 29, 2017, at 11:00 a.m.
Remembrances may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation; or donor's favorite charity.
