We did not get to hang out so much as your duties in the military dictated where you were stationed at any given moment, but when we did get together you were a pleasure to be around.  You always had a big smile and kept the topics fun and entertaining.  You are missed cousin. R.I.P.

I still can't believe that you left us so suddenly.  We just celebrated your retirement last year and you looked great. Condolences to Tina, her family, my cousins Anthony,  Cathy and their families. Mostly to my Aunt Annie. 

Dave rest in peace my friend I will miss you.  I will miss our Fire Chief get together  but most of all i will miss your friendship and your happy go lucky personality. Your a good man that loved the Lord and his family and friends.  The last time that we got together was in Tucson at the Fire Chief retirement.  My friend happy journey to the fire station in heaven. Still we meet again thanks for all your help and friendship your a thru friend. God bless you and your family. Adios amigo

David and I met at church when we served together for a short time in Evangelism Explosion and shortly after met Tina through a Sunday School Supper Eight gathering at their house.  Dave was always a cheerful, friendly and enthusiastic guy.

My prayers are with you all as you grieve his passing and rejoice with you in knowing that he is no longer in pain and is rejoicing with the Lord.

From Air National Guard Logistics Readiness Staff,  will miss Mr Sandoval coming downstairs to talk to us about Fire Trucks, and to see if we had any snacks,  he was wonderful to work with, always strived to make sure the ANG Fire Departments  has the best equipment, facilities and vehicles.  Often he would come down not to talk about work but about sports, movies, travel,  and of course his beautiful family.  We will all miss our Brother, God Bless Sandoval Family

I loved how you loved my Grandsons.  How you played  Nerf Guns with them.  I believe you had more Nerf Guns than they did!!  I loved going out to dinner with you and Tina.  You always told the best stories.  Barred Owl will never be the same.

            You don't miss something until it's gone. David would call the office and serenade me when he was bored or someone was in his office. He always asked about my family and "Julie". He wanted to take Chase out every time he came to town.  He loved people!! Please know that you are part of a very close family of military and civilian firefighters!! Please let us know if you or your family needs anything. Prayers for you and your family!

Dear Tia Annie and cousin Tina and family, my heart is broken only because I know how much David will be missed by all...  however, I know he is with our precious Lord Jesus now and for eternity.
I am so honored to have David as my cousin, who spent his life on earth serving others in so many places and ways.  I read these memories of others here and my heart was warmed by the great love shown to not only them by David, but also from them to him and his family.
I always had a special place in my heart for him. I will miss his great contagious smile. I will see him again in Heaven.
May God continue to bring you peace and comfort in the way that only God can do. I love you all.

I know David has left us to return home to his Heavenly Father, but I still cannot believe he is gone. To Tina, Daniel and John, and all of his family, I am so sad for your loss as I know how great it is, and I pray to God for your continued comfort and peace. I know what a GREAT human being he was and I can't even express how much I will miss him.
David and I met on our first day of the Police Academy in Fresno, and I was blessed with his friendship from that day forward. We partnered up for scenarios during the Academy and had much fun, many laughs, and talked each other through the tough parts of the training. He was always so kind and helpful to me; a true friend in every way. We stayed in touch over the years we both worked at different agencies in Fresno and I always looked forward to a lunch with him, or seeing him at a local training event or meeting. He was always quick with a good joke and his dazzling smile that warmed and welcomed anyone in his presence. We talked about our families and kids, and it was always so apparent and heart-warming to see how much he loved and cared for Tina, Daniel and John. He and I shared a passion for "doing the right thing" no matter how hard that might be, as well as for speaking our minds in our careers. I know there are MANY he worked with over his long and storied law enforcement, fire and military career who are better for knowing David. I know I am.

I don’t have the words to express my profound sorrow at the loss of this great man and great Chief.  Dave was a beautiful man; warm, caring, he treated everyone as we would all like to be treated.  There is deep sorrow in his passing, though a blessing that he suffers no more.  He is with the Lord.  I will always remember, and cherish, the wonderful occasions when we would all take a break from our work and gather for lunch. It was always more lively (and interesting) whenever Dave was there. Loved his humor, his warmth, his  compassion for others.  I am so grateful our lives crossed, if only  for a brief moment in time.  We will all miss him. Prayers for Tina and family during this very sad time.  🙏

I had the privilege of working with Dave when he was Fire Chief at the Tucson Airport Authority. We were peers on the leadership front and the impact he had on me was one of trust, friendship, honesty, and integrity. Although our time together was short, I will never forget him. Some of my best conversations (personal, professional) were with Dave. He kept it real but with kindness and compassion. For the Sandoval family, my thoughts and prayers go out to each one of you. Dave, rest in peace.

Some of my fondest memories of Chief were the conversations we shared. He always new how to how make everyone laugh and shared some amazing stories. When I was new to the unit in Fresno he made me feel very welcome. He will be missed. 

From Puerto Rico with cariño, Chief sadoval was great guy, smiling allway we enjoy his company here in puerto rico with his wife tina! We will miss him dearly!  RIP

Dave was like a part of our family from the minute we met him. He and Tina were our neighbors for 6 wonderful years and were like bonus grandparents to our daughters. Dave was always pulling coins out of my kids' ears and joking around with them every chance he got. He would joke around and call my husband "captain" every time he saw him and would always pretend to mimic my voice. He was always smiling, laughing, and just a wonderful person to be around. The world is a little less fun without him in it but he will never be forgotten. Until we meet again, "Grandpa". <3

Dear Tina, I don’t know if you’ll remember me, I was part of a group of friends from David’s years working for IRS.  Our group (my husband Darrell, Ricky, Arnold, Ben, John, Doris and others) often went to Kearney Park for a day of picnic and baseball.  David was just a few years younger than Darrell and I,  he was the baby of the group.  He was always such a sweet, kind, considerate person.  I remember when he started dating you.  He was so enthralled with you; we attended your wedding.  He quit IRS to be a firefighter. After that we lost touch. I was very saddened to see his obituary in the paper.  I am sure he remained the same sweet person, husband and father.  We also lost Darrell 6 years ago to cancer so I understand your pain at this time.  I just wanted you to know the memories of knowing David were brought to the surface and remembering him made me smile.  With sympathy, Kathy.

I remember the first time I met Chief David Sandoval back in 2005.  He inspired not only me, but everyone who worked with him to strive for success. He taught me to always put others first because they are the ones that are going to bust their butts to make sure the mission is accomplished. He lived by the ideals “never give anyone any excuse not to select you for any position” and to “always make yourself shine”. He was an inspiration to a lot of military personnel.   His famous motto was “ No Excuse”, which is true till this day. I will miss our conservations about fixing all problems within your personal life as well as your professional life.  He was always proud of his sons’ accomplishments and felt like he gave them the life he never had. He loved his family deeply with all his heart and ensured they were always taken care of. That is something as a father that you appreciate in time as you see your family grow.  You will be missed and my thoughts and prayers are here for you and your family, always and forever. 

I am so saddened by David’s passing. One of the memories that makes me smile the most is when I used to call my husband when he was out in Maryland.  When David was with him, David used to answer saying ‘Hi Sweetie’ because he always got a kick out of me saying that to Duane. I will miss the dinners with Tina and David at Yellowfin.  I will miss David.

David Sandoval knew me from 144th Security Forces and when I joined 144th CES Fire Department in 2003! I enjoyed his Friendship and working for him later in my second career as a Fire Fighter! He will be missed! Prayers to his Family!

I just want to honor the memories of my Chief, mentor and friend. It wasn't allways peaches and creams, but thru the test of times we understood each other and became best friends. David loved my family as his own, and I will allways cherish that. David tought me an important lesson in my career as Fire Chief: "choose your battles, it will help you make better decisions and become a better leader". His memory will endure forever in the lives of those who knew him, and for the legacy he left within the Air National Guard Fire & Emergency Services. David, rest in peace in the arms of our Lord Jesus, you have fought the good battle and won! You will be missed my friend. To Tina and the family, my condolences, may the Lord give you comfort and strength during this time of sorrow. Sending our love and prayers. David, Mariely, and Nayeliz De Jesus.

When me and my husband were living in Maryland we didn’t know a soul. David and Tina took us into their home and we didnt just become friends but we felt like family. David will be missed very much but we will hold the  memories close; baseball games, thanksgiving dinners, crab leg feasts and of course that ONE time we went to church:)
