David grew up in Fresno, attending Addams Elementary and Fresno High School. His life's work was in the family owned Gleim Crown Pump Company. Along with his brothers, Rowland and Richard, David created a very successful water pump company that serves the agricultural community of Fresno.
David's hobbies were duck hunting and woodworking. David was a United States Navy Veteran, participating in the Bay of Pigs Invasion. David was a dedicated patriot, contributing and supporting the DAV with time and resources throughout his adult life.
David described himself as a "go with the flow" person. He brought peace and serenity to family and business affairs. Those who knew and loved him, respected his sense of honor and integrity and peaceful demeanor.
David is survived by his second wife, Jacqueline (Jackie) Newman, his two daughters, Denise Simonian, her husband Kim and Paige Gleim, grandchildren Joshua Dodson, his wife Allison, Shannon Trippel, husband Kyle and Allison Mimms, husband Jon. The extended family includes 6 great-grandchildren. David had survived his first wife of 60+ years Diana R. Gleim, who died in 2021.
In lieu of flowers, David wished support for the DAV, as an honor of his legacy.
A visitation for David will be held Wednesday, October 25, 2023, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Stephens and Bean Funeral Chapel, 202 North Teilman, Fresno, CA 93706. A committal service will occur Thursday, October 26, 2023, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Belmont Memorial Park, 201 N Teilman Ave, Fresno, CA 93706.
