Darol was born August 24, 1932 in the little town of Selby, South Dakota. At age six, the family, along with his grandparents, aunts, and uncle moved to Fresno. He grew up here and graduated from Roosevelt high. He got his business degree from Fresno State College and served in the Air Force for two years. Before the Air Force stationed him in South Korea for his military service, he married Lucy Dyson. They were married for just short of 66 years when she passed away in September. When Darol was honorably discharged from the service he went to work at Gordon Equipment. The company was later renamed Gordon Industrial Supply and he purchased the company in 1973. In later years, he passed control of the company to his son, but he continued to work at the company until his death He loved to go out to eat, gamble and travel. He loved family and for years held a family reunion each August at his house.
Darol is survived by his son, Bob Hoffman. He also leaves five grandchildren and five great grandchildren to cherish his memory.
Darol was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy Hoffman and his son, William Hoffman.
A visitation for Darol will be held Sunday, December 20, 2020 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Stephens and Bean Funeral Chapel, 202 North Teilman, Fresno, California, 93706. Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, the visitation will be capacity controlled. A funeral service will occur Monday, December 21, 2020 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 PM at New Hope Community Church, 4620 East Nees Avenue, Clovis, California, 93611. Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, the service will be capacity controlled.
