Dearest Aubrey and Rudy
It's so hard to lose your mother but infinitely more sad when they were as amazing as Darla.  When I think of Darla, I see that bright, genuine  smile  captured so perfectly in the picture of her at the memorial.  I remember when I first met her, I immediately liked her and felt like I'd know her for years. She was so open and friendly and funny...we just hit it off.  Our other bond was being mothers of children around the same ages...we shared the trials, tribulations AND  joys of motherhood.  

I could tell from the service, you know how very blessed you were to have her as your mom.  She lives always  in the hearts of those who had the great fortune to know her.  Love, Sonja

I met Darla about 30 years ago when she n Marie used to park in my neighborhood and walk in Woodward Park. I always admired her love for the outdoors and how she loved walking the many trails, most, off the beaten path, in Woodward Park. 

Darla was an encourager to me!  "Hey YOU, " she said one Sunday morning after Marie and I and Darla walked, "let's start walking during the week in the park. I'll drive over weekdays and we can get some steps in!"  I said YES, and we did this routine all during the Pandemic and even after. When she would wake up, she'd text, and say, "Ok, YOU, see you at 9 am."  We both had our priorities though, first it was coffee for me and coffee and The Fresno Bee for her. While she had a familiar route she enjoyed, she was always willing to try my weekday route to Fort Washington CC and back.    Before she got in her car after our walks, she would always 
Say, "bye YOU' see you tomorrow."
Flexibility and open to change, something I so appreciated in Darla. 

Marie has probably shared all the outings and trips and adventures and dinners and lunches and laughs we all enjoyed, together, but what only I can share is the way Darla always made me feel. She was a true friend who cared about others and was always so willing to help. When she retired, she volunteered taking home-bound seniors to appointments and treatments. That's the sweet, caring heart Darla had.

Darla gave us so much and was such a great friend to all of us here. Anyone who had the pleasure to call her friend, can't think of Darla and NOT smile!

You will be missed, Miss Darla, and our lives are richer because we knew you!  It's my turn now to say "Bye, YOU," but I'm not. I'll just say, 'until our paths cross again up above, your life truly made a difference, Darla!  Rest peacefully, my friend.💗

Darla was filled with love,  for her family, friends and life. We treasure happy memories of hiking and laughing with her. She will be missed by many. Cathey & John Withrow
