Daniel Hoehne Lucero, of Fresno, was a World War II Veteran. He passed away on Monday, March 2, 2015 at the age of 92. Dan was born in Ordway, Colorado on January 13, 1923. He was the son of Petronilla and Toribio Lucero. Dan was raised in Chowchilla on his father's farm, and subsequently moved to Madera, CA. He enlisted in the United States Army on January 12, 1942 and served in the 3rd Infantry Division as a field medic during World War II. He served in North Africa, Sicily, Italy, France and Germany and survived the Battle of the Bulge, Normandy D-Day landings in France. After serving his country, Dan was honorably discharged on October 31, 1945 and returned to Madera, CA where he met the love of his life, Lydia Gomez, at the Madera County Fair. They married on October 6, 1947 and were married 68 years. Dan worked for Southern Pacific Rail Road in the 1950's and Roger's Materials and Installation of cement pipe and irrigation for the agricultural industry. He then went on to operate his own successful business as Dan's Irrigation and Pipe Repair.
Dan was young at heart and a fun loving man whose greatest enjoyment was deer hunting with his grandson Craig and his friends Steve, Joe and Juan. He loved to fish and loved visits from his children and grandchildren so he could share his funny jokes and stories to. He also loved the mountains, the beach and taking country drives. Dan was a great story teller, loved watching western movies, Fresno State and San Francisco 49er football games, listening to music, writing poems and loved to sing and dance. Dan was always there to fill the void for anyone who needed his help or advice. He was a very kind and loving father figure and friend to everyone he knew.
Daniel will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him. May his legacy and love for life live on through us all.

He was preceded in death by his mother; father; and 11 brothers and sisters.
Dan is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Lydia, his children Sandra and husband Brian, Daniel Jr. II, Alfred and his wife Debbie, Sharon and her significant other Sal; seven grandchildren, Craig, Daniel Jr. III, Ben, Michael, Gabriel, Richard and Stephanie; and eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home on Friday, March 6, 2015 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
A Funeral Service will be held at Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Mt. View Cemetery.
