She grew up in Colorado, and Tombstone, AR. After graduating high school, she went to cosmetology school in Cheyenne, WY, where she met her best friend and love of her life, Doug Steiner. They were married on June 9, 1967, after Doug's discharge from the United States Air Force. They moved to Fresno where she worked as a telephone operator and Doug went into finance. They later farmed grapes and walnuts near Caruthers, CA and helped found Pacific Boring. They were longtime Caruthers Fair directors and voted Man and Woman of the Year in 1990.
Connie was a loving mom and grandma, PTA President, room mother, an original soccer mom, secretary, bookkeeper, community volunteer, porcelain painter, avid crocheter and a true friend. She bowled and danced during the early stages of multiple sclerosis. Despite its many challenges, she always had a cheery outlook and found ingenious ways to get things done.
She was preceded in death by her father Arthur; and sister Linda. She is survived by her husband Doug; daughters, Brandey and Brooke; son Briann; mother Margaret; brothers, Ronald and Arthur; and grandchildren, Audricus, Kaylena, Justus, and Fannie.
Visitation will be held at Stephens and Bean Chapel, 202 N. Teilman on Thursday, August 30, 2018, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.
A Chapel Service will be held at the Caruthers Nazarene Church, 12695 S. Marks, Caruthers, CA, on Friday, August 31, 2018, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a lunch.
A Graveside Service will be held at Belmont Memorial Park, 201 N. Teilman, Fresno, CA, at 1:00 p.m.
