Claire was a graduate of Seattle University with a degree in Nursing. She spent over 45 years serving others as a nurse at the original St. Agnes Hospital, as well as Nazareth House Nursing home.
She was married for 57 years to the love of her life Anthony Lucas with whom she raised eight children. She was blessed with 23 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was a loving mother who continually sacrificed for her children. She put all eight children through 12 years of Catholic Education. She was dedicated to her children and her husband.
Her faith was the gift she shared with her family and all who knew her. Claire had brought several people to their faith in Christ by the loving example she lived for others. Claire was a strong woman who supported Anthony when in 1961 they moved their six children and his mother to California from Indiana to buy into a company which would become Valley Chrome Plating, which is still family owned and now in it's 50th year .
Claire and her family wish to thank Interim Health Care, Sylvia Loscano and all those who helped with her care.
Claire was preceded in death by her parents, George and Mary Massart; her husband, Tony; and her sister, Jeanne.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Ray and Melanie Lucas, Tom and Cindy Lucas, Cathy and Jeff Booey, George and Kathleen Lucas, Greg and MaryPat Lucas, Eileen and Joe Vido, Christine Lucas, Matthew and Kara Lucas; 23 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; brother, George Massart; and sister, Maggie Carr.
Visitation will be held at Whitehurst Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home on Thursday, November 11, 2010, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 pm. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will follow at 7:00 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Clovis, on Friday, November 12, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Peter's Cemetery.
