Catherine Matsuko Obata

Catherine Matsuko (Mack) Obata passed away on December 30, 2022 at the age of 79. Mack was born in Amache, CO on December 7, 1943 to Kaname and Yoshiko Miyamoto after her family was relocated to the Amache Internment Camp in Colorado. Mack grew up on the family farm near the outskirts of Turlock CA and graduated from Livingston High School in 1961. Mack later moved to Fresno where she completed Cosmetology School and became a beautician. Mack married Lester Obata on November 13, 1965 and they were married for 57 years. Mack loved to cook, play casino slots, watch the SF Giants, and watch NASCAR racing with her grandson Corbin. Most of all, she loved spending time with family and dear friends and especially young children. Mack loved preparing traditional Japanese meals which she excelled at. She will be remembered for being a kind, thoughtful, and generous person.

Mack was preceded in death by her brother, James, and her parents Kaname and Yoshiko. She is survived by her husband Lester, daughter Traci, son Larry, grandson Corbin, sisters Anita, Betty, and Janite.
