Carmen Garcia, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother and cherished member of the community, peacefully passed away at the age of 97 on December 23, 2023. She touched the lives of countless individuals with her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love throughout her remarkable journey. Her legacy of love, faith, and resilience will forever inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Carmen was born on April 6, 1926, in Fillmore, California, and was the daughter of Jose and Ysidra Ramirez. Growing up, she developed a strong work ethic and a compassionate spirit that would shape her future endeavors. Carmen's vibrant personality and strong character made her a beloved figure in the lives of all who had the honor of knowing her.
On July 18, 1947, Carmen married her beloved husband, Luciano Garcia, embarking on a remarkable journey together. Settling in the Central Valley, they crafted a life adorned with love and treasured moments. She devoted herself to the community, along with her husband, aiding countless individuals in securing employment. Carmen’s exceptional talent for creating handmade quilts became a symbol of her generosity, sharing warmth and care with many throughout her life.
Her devout Catholic faith was evident in her service to the Lord as a Guadalupana and in her proud readings of the scriptures at church. Carmen's accomplishments echoed her commitment to serving others. Starting as a Nurse's Aide at Washington Elementary School in Mendota, she devoted 24 years to the noble cause of caregiving. Her impact extended to advisory committees, boards of health centers, and coordinating blood drives, earning accolades such as Fresno County Employee of the Year with the Mendota School District before retiring in 1998.
Carmen is Survived by 4 beloved children, 12 cherished grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren. Carmen Garcia's legacy lives on through the lives she touched and the love she shared. Her absence will be deeply felt, her memory cherished, and her spirit of compassion and service forever remembered. Forever in our heart, may you rest in peace, Carmen R. Garcia.
A Recitation of the Holy Rosary for Carmen will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at 9:30 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 15437 W Kearney Blvd, Kerman, CA 93630 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM.
A committal service will take place immediately after the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, 264 N Blythe Ave, Fresno, CA 93706.
