Carlos Corral was born July 16, 1947 in Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico to Arturo and Victoria Corral. The Corral family consisted of four brothers and two sisters; Natividad, Elva, Eugenio, Arturo Carolina and Carlos. Carlos was the six child of this marriage that ended in divorce in 1952 but his life continued as part of a new family. Victoria married Salvador Corona and this new marriage bore fruit of three brothers and two sisters. The members of this new family Jaime, Irma, Salvador, Leticia, Alonso, (Richard) Eugenio, Caroline, and Carlos. The new family members immigrated to El Paso, Texas from Juarez, Mexico In 1955 to form a new life in the United States. Carlos became fascinated with the American culture during the start of the doo-wop Rock-n-Roll era. Carlos could imitate the Elvis rock gyrations that thrilled the neighborhood fans. He enjoyed the music rock sensation that captured America in the Middle fifties and sixties. This era was the happiest time that Carlos enjoyed in this part of his life because the family shared happy moments together. Carlos also enjoyed family gatherings with the Corona family and his Uncle Emiliano and Lupe Aguirre who formed part of our close-knit family. Cousin Virginia Aguirre and Sylvia Aguirre formed a special bond with Carlos. His extended family in Fresno included Natividad and Margarita Corral and their eight children.
Carlos was a gifted free lance artist who enjoyed drawing family members, nature settings and famous celebrities of the time. Carlos had a unique portrait memory gift that communicated happiness, excitement, grief, and cartoon caricatures. He was sought by many friends and neighbors as sketch volunteers. Elvis Presley was his favorite recording artist at the time.
Carlos attended Roosevelt Elementary and started Bowie High School but completed his education in Fresno High and Huntington Park High School in Los Angeles, California in 1968. In 1967 Carlos experienced a family tragedy due to the unexpected passing of our beloved Mother Victoria Corona. This left an empty void in the Corona Family that continued throughout his life. In 1968 Carlos was drafted into U.S. Army and honorably served in the Republic of Vietnam. The combat experience of Vietnam left Carlos in a depressive state that continued to the end of his life. Carlos was privileged to hear the gospel and accept Christ into his life during his teenage years. In Fresno, California Carlos was taught the work ethic as a short order cook for more than 20 years.
Carlos enjoyed the chef cuisine that was introduced by his brother Natividad Corral... Carlos worked as a Cook, Pantry man, bus boy, and even assistant chef in many restaurants in Fresno, California. In 1971 Carlos Corral experienced a nervous breakdown that led to a life of hospice assistance in Fresno, California. Carlos became very independent and private person after this breakdown but his good nature toward all family never diminished. The family gatherings diminished due to our mother’s unexpected passing that caused brothers and sisters to be permanently separated until adulthood. In 2009 Carlos was diagnosed with terminal cancer of the lungs and departed this life in May 3, 2010. His family felt a deep loss at his passing but understood that he was finally at rest united with our mother Victoria Corona in Heaven. God richly blessed his new life with Jesus.
