Brad Wayne Kimura, 68 years old of Clovis, California passed away at home on January 27th, 2024, as a result of a massive stroke. He was surrounded by his loving family. Brad will be missed by many whose lives he touched. He was kind, thoughtful, funny and someone you could always count on. He can best be described as someone who took better care of others than he did of himself. Although we are at a loss with his passing, we are comforted knowing we will all be together someday again. Brad was born in Kingsburg, California to Woodley and Aiko Kimura on April 20th, 1955. He graduated from Kingsburg High School in 1973 and attended Reedley College and California State University, Fresno. He received his Master of Science degree in Rehabilitation Counseling in 1984. He retired as a Sr. Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor for the State of California Department of Rehabilitation in 2021. In retirement, he enjoyed golfing and fishing, but it was time spent with his family, most notably his granddaughters “Addie Sue-boo boo” and “Ellie Belly” that brought him the most joy. Like the rest of us, they are having a difficult time understanding what happened to their beloved “Oji”. We are all doing our best to support and guide them.
Brad is survived by Sharon, his wife of 45 years, daughter Krista Calderon, son in law Gabriel Calderon, granddaughters Adeline (6) and Ellisyn (3) Calderon; daughter Kelsey Kimura and fiance Bhavin Joshi; and his brother Cary Kimura. He is also survived by his sister in laws Lee Ann Cunningham, Raynette Takizawa, and Diane Kimura; brother in laws Mark Cunningham, Warren and Nelson Sakamoto; niece Lauren Cunningham; nephews Maxwell Cunningham and Christopher Sakamoto. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Donna.
The family would like to thank Dr. Alan Long, Dr. Dolores Torres, the Emergency room staff at CRMC, the Neuro ICU staff, and Hinds Hospice for the care given during Brad’s brief hospital stay and transition home.
