Benjamin passed away on Saturday morning, April 11, 2015, at the age of 91, in Fresno, CA. Ben was born on April 24, 1923, in Hanford, CA. He graduated from Hanford High School in 1941, and attended Central California Commercial College to study accounting, a skill which he would use in his 30 plus year career in advertising and radio. Ben was a pioneer in Spanish language radio first at KPER in Gilroy, CA, and later at KGST in Fresno, CA where he rose to the level of General Manager and eventually co-owner.
He was involved in many civic activities, both in Gilroy and Fresno. In Fresno he was a board member of the Fresno Dialysis Clinic and board member of Community Hospitals of Central California, member of the Small Businessmen's Association and member of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
He will be remembered by many as a generous man who loved being with family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife Rebecca; his grandson Mathew; and his son-in-law Ronald.
Benjamin is survived by his children, Eileen, Michael and his wife Gherie, Celia, and Emily and her husband Doug; granddaughter, Emilia and her husband Brian; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Stephens and Bean Chapel on Sunday, April 19, 2015, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.
A Funeral Service will be held at the Fresno Hispanic Seventh-day Adventist Church on Monday, April 20, 2015, at 10:00 a.m.
