1931. She passed away at home on Sunday, October 1, 2023 at the age of 92.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband (Virgil Wiley), brother (Joe
Torrano), sister-in-law (Mildred Torrano), brother-in-law (Roy Wiley),
sister-in-law (Anna Morris), and several beloved pets.
Barbara grew up in Tranquillity, graduating from Tranquillity High School in
1948. While working as a secretary for Rathmann Oil, she met Virgil Wiley,
who would go on to become the love of her life. They were inseparable
everyday of their 66 years together with the exception of 2 days. She and
Virgil joined a partnership with her brother Joe and sister-in-law Mildred
calling it, "Green Valley Farms" located in Tranquillity. Barbara was
extremely quick and sharp with numbers and expert bookkeeper, so she
utilized those gifts to meticulously manage the business side of the farm.
Like her business skills, Barbara ensured her nails were also perfectly
manicured, hair done up, and a tidy home throughout her life.
Together Barbara and Virgil loved going to auto races, taking the occasional
bus trips with close friends to cheer on the Fresno State Bulldogs in
basketball, and traveling to their favorite casinos for gambling adventures
(especially Laughlin). Barbara and Virgil also enjoyed a special trip to
Thailand to visit Virgil's nephew.
After retiring from farming, they sold their home in Tranquillity and moved
to their second home in Oakhurst. They enjoyed their retirement and made
many new friends in the mountain community.
Barbara is survived by her niece (Carol Gilio), nephews (Greg and Alan
Torrano), and a few grandnieces and grandnephews.
Special thank you to Mary Thompson, Tony Chavarria, Raine Rhodes, Neil
Hayward, Dayna Petrille, Sheila Lightfoot, Rose DeLosSantos and all the wonderful caregivers who assisted Barbara on her final journey.
