Barbara Nina Barrows was born on February 5, 1937 in San Francisco, California and was the oldest daughter of Nunzio and Alma Tarantino. She went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 2, 2023 in Fresno, California.
After graduating from Galileo Height School in San Francisco, California in 1955, she attended San Francisco State College and then IBM school. She worked for Leslie Salt Company in San Francisco as a computer operator.
Barbara married her loving husband Ronald Norbert Barrows in 1957 and moved to Fresno, California. She did not regret leaving the big city to become a country wife.
Barbara retired from Fresno Unified School District in 1997 with over 20 years as an Office Manager at Holland Elementary School. Upon her retirement, she enjoyed cruising to Alaska, Hawaii, the Mediterranean along with flying to Florida, Texas, Arizona and Utah to visit family. Barbara loved gardening, genealogy, and trips to the casino.
She enjoyed her monthly luncheons and coffee get togethers with former co-workers and friends. Her yearly clam chowder potluck gathering was a special occasion enjoyed by many friends.
Barbara enjoyed special gatherings with her family on the holidays and cooking special foods they all enjoyed. Some of the recipes have been handed down to the family, but her most precious gifts were her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Barbara was an active member at her church volunteering as a Lector, Eucharistic Minister and Altar Server for many years.
Barbara is survived by her daughter Victoria Barrows of Fresno, son Dr Daniel and wife Julie Barrows of Fresno and son Kevin and wife Valerie Barrows of Salt Lake City Utah. She is also survived by her sister Geraldine and husband Charles Borrecco of Belmont, brother Edward and his wife Angela Tarantino of Brentwood, 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and many loving relatives and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial Service for Barbara will be held on Friday, July 21, 2023 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul Catholic Newman Center, 1572 E Barstow Ave, Fresno, CA 93710 with a reception to follow immediately at the funeral mass.
