Antonia "Toni" Bollakis Anderson was born on March 20, 1931. She was the third daughter of Joanne Vasilomanolakis Bollakis and Andrew Bollakis. Her family included her yia yia, Anna Cafcalis; her siblings, Ann Bollakis Johnson, Anastasia "Terry" Bollakis Miller, Vangie Bollakis Peterson and Manuel Bollakis.
She married John H. Anderson in 1958, and celebrated her 55 year wedding anniversary in 2013. She had one daughter, Ann Locke Anderson Crossman.
Toni graduated from California State University, San Jose and became a high school art teacher. She taught in Ceres, Los Banos, Merced and Fresno. She was the head of the art department at Hoover High School for more than 20 years and was a member of the Society of Western Artists.
Toni inspired many students, friends and family members. She appreciated natural beauty and loved flowers. She created beauty with everything she touched. Her devotion to family was unsurpassed, as was her generous spirit with all her neighbors, friends and co-workers.
Toni was much loved by her daughter Ann; her son-in-law, Edward Crossman; her three granddaughters; and two step-grandaughters, Anna Crossman, Erika Crossman, Andonia Crossman, Garrah Crossman and Chelsea Crossman Ounjian. She had two nieces, Jana Bollakis Krahn and Andrea Bollakis; and three nephews, Andrew Miller, George Peterson and Tom Peterson.
Visitation will be held at Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home on Thursday, June 12, 2014, from 2:00 to 5:30 p.m. followed by the Trisagion at 5:30 p.m.
A Funeral Servcie will be held at Saint George Greek Orthodox Church on Friday, June 13, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Fresno Memorial Gardens.
