her family on April 23, 2019 in Fresno, California. Dolly was born on August 2, 1950
in Madera, California the daughter of Tony J. and Esther Abundis.
Dolly was raised in Chowchilla, California where her Father Tony worked for Kirkman Peach Corporation. A real tomboy her childhood was filled with raising chickens, rabbits, sheep and steers. Dolly even had a pet pig that she used to ride all around the yard and who followed her like a puppy. Dolly played the clarinet and joined 4H, where she learned many crafts and cooking skills. Later, as a teenager, she owned a horse named Candy and delighted in hours of riding her beloved horse.
Dolly excelled in sports as well, playing any kind of fast moving game. During college she played on a women’s slow pitch city league team. Dolly was a left-handed pitcher and she could really send those softballs screaming over home plate.
Dolly attended Hoover High School graduating in 1969 and Fresno City College. In 1977, Dolly married Andy Rodriguez and raised three children. Dolly was a fierce Mama Bear and a tough disciplinarian, but she promoted an open door policy inviting young relatives to live with them while they finished school or technical training and started their careers. Dolly was asked to be godmother to many of her young nieces and nephews as well as close family friends.
Dolly liked to cook and always had eager candidates to eat her, lasagna, tortillas with butter, chili verde, sopa de fideo, pumpkin bread and many varieties of cookies. Listening to visitors at her hospital bedside talk about her good cooking had all our mouths watering.
Dolly was a devoted grandmother and loved spending time with each of her grandchildren. She excelled in spoiling and allowing them to enjoy freedoms she would never allow for her own children.
The last fifteen years Dolly experienced poor health starting with a heart condition, breast cancer and most recently COPD. But Dolly, always the tough fighter, battled all of these diseases with fervor and managed them so they did not define her.
Dolly had an unwavering faith in God and until her health condition made it impossible she attended church regularly.
Dolly was preceded in death by her parents, Tony J. and Esther Abundis and she is survived by her husband Andy Rodriguez, and her children Anthony J. Rodriguez, Roseanna Rodriguez Flores and husband Armando, and Jessica Rodriguez. Dolly also had seven grandchildren; Samantha Rodriguez, Antoinette Rodriguez, Natalia Rodriguez, Armando Flores Jr., Emma Rodriguez, Ella Rodriguez and Miranda Flores.
