Anna Johanna Hoag, originally of Fresno, California, unexpectedly passed away on December 13, 2022, in Miami, Florida.
Anna was born on a U.S. military airbase in Bitburg, Germany, on June 4, 1980, and lived in several places before she and her family settled in Fresno, California where Anna started fifth grade at Ayer Elementary School in Sunnyside. Anna was a precocious student who earned straight A's. She loved to dance. Ballet was a particular passion. For years, Anna studied at Cynthia Merrill Dance.
Anna graduated from Computech Middle School and Edison High School in 1998 where she was the captain of the varsity cheerleading team. Anna gained admission to both USC and UCLA, where she hoped to study biology.
Traveling and fine dining became Anna's passions along with anything glitz and glamour. Her favorite color was pink. Family and friends remember Anna for her hard work and empathy for others.
Anna Hoag is survived by her mother, Jo-Ellen Louden (Trynten) and brother, Andrew Hoag (Emily Jarvis); uncle, Steven Paavola (Christine) and aunts, Ruth Ann and Heidi Paavola; half-sister, Carrie Hoag, and half-brother, Eddie Hoag; stepbrother, Nicholas Louden; and nephew, Marshall Hoag. Anna was predeceased by her son, Dylan Joshua who was born on Christmas Day 1998 and passed away on April 15, 1999, of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS); and her father, Captain Edward W. Hoag III.
A memorial service in honor of Anna's life will take place at Belmont Memorial on January 5, 2023, in Fresno, California, at 2:00 p.m. PST. In lieu of flowers, persons interested may make donations to the American SIDS Institute in Anna Hoag's honor.
