Angelo was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was an avid fan of the SF Giants and 49ers and a member of the Dante Club. His green thumb was evident in his beautiful garden of Italian peppers and tomatoes. Woodworking and stained glass were two of his favorite hobbies in addition to being everyone's handyman. Ang and Dot loved to cook together. He was an expert at BBQ; curing olives; and winemaking. Sharing meals with family and friends were a huge part of his life.
During World War II, he was deployed to Japan with his army infantry unit. He retired from PG&E and remained friends with co-workers until his passing. He and Dorothy enjoyed family trips to Monterey and Cayucos. Ang loved going to Morro Bay, especially the annual family BBQ, which he enjoyed "supervising" while drinking his wine. He looked forward to Sunday family dinners and holidays.
Angelo loved to travel, recently visiting his hometown, Alaska, Hawaii and Europe.
We will all miss him.
Angelo is now with Dorothy, his loving wife of 54 years.
He is survived by his children, Charles and Astrid Sasso, Lucianna and John Ventresca; his grandchildren, Nicolas and Giovanni Ventresca and Victoria Sasso. He also leaves behind his sister, Josephine and Joey DiPasquale; brother Maurice and Yvonne Sasso; in-laws, Jim and Mickey Parisi, Margaret Simone and Arthur Brager; and his many nephews and nieces.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary and Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Shrine of St. Therese Catholic Church, on Saturday, October 6, 2012, at 12:30 p.m.
Remembrances may be made to Saint Jude's Hospital or the charity of your choice.
