Angelo Francisco Bernardi passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, June 29, 2013. Angelo was the youngest of five children, born to John and Giulia, on January 25, 1925 in Santa Rosa, Ca.
At 18 years of age, he proudly served in the United States Air Force during World War II, where he flew 65 missions in a B26 bomber, as a tail gunner and bombardier. After the war he returned home to marry his high school sweetheart, Lillian Marie Solari, the love of his life.
After marrying Lillian, they moved from Santa Rosa to Los Angeles, where he acquired a first class radio license at a Los Angeles Technical School. They later moved to Fresno where Ang started Bernardi TV, which he owned and operated until he semi-retired after 26 years. He then went onto his second career into real estate investing, with his partner, Lil.
Ang and Lil built a family cabin at Central Camp where they spent many summers with their family and friends. Later in life, at the age of 65, each having their own snowmobile, you could find them cruising throughout Central Camp in the winter months with their Central Camp family. They loved traveling which included a trip to Italy. They enjoyed each other for 55 years until Lillian's passing in 2002.
Angelo's bowling career included sanctioned and awarded ABC highlights of an 832 series and three-300 games. He was inducted into the Bowling Hall of Fame in 1973. He was also a member of the Central California Big Band Dance Society. With the right music playing, Angelo was up on the dance floor. He was known for his smooth dancing, providing entertainment for all.
The last nine years Angelo spent his time with his loving companion, Allene Kahl. Together they enjoyed bowling, dancing, traveling and watching his favorite team, the NY Yankees.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the Veteran's Community Living Center for their outstanding care they gave to Angelo the past nine months. You are all angels.
He is survived by his children, Wayne, David and his wife Kathy, Lisa and her husband Christian Lind, Tina and her significant other Mathew Gray, and his companion, Allene Kahl; grandchildren, Geoffrey Bernardi, Nicholas Bernardi, Katrina Bernardi, Cameron Lind and Lily Gray
