Amparo attended schools in west Fresno as a child and she was getting ready to attend Edison High School when World War II started. She left school and worked in the fields with her father and siblings. Later she talked about never attending High School and never complained but stated, that was the right thing to do. She also worked at the packing houses until she started working as a meat wrapper for Boy's Market for 30 years. Amparo was one of a kind and excelled in many things, she did cooking to gardening to trimming her own bushes at 89 years old. She was strong in her faith and loved God and prayed for everyone. She was famous for her yard sales having Nancy and the kids over helping her along with her sisters and giving away items to help people who didn't have money. You would see her working on puzzles cleaning her house and just staying busy and never complaining. She never had a checking account and paid cash for everything she bought. She never owned anyone any money until the day she died. She told her daughter Nancy she would starve before she ever went on aid. She was a very proud women.
She enjoyed doing her own lawn and spending time with Nancy and her family. Amparo loved to go to Pismo Beach and enjoyed the Ocean. Amparo was an avid Fresno State Bulldog and San Francisco 49'er fan.
Amparo is preceded in death by her parents George and Concha Vasquez, her sisters Cora Marez, Helen Lopez, Connie Madrigal, Sally Del Toro and her brother Robert Vasquez.
Amparo is survived by her daughter Nancy Kevorkian and her son-in-law Randy, her brothers Ralph Vasquez and his wife Lupe, Richard and Chuck Vasquez, her sisters Blanch Valdovinos, Esther Quinonez, Mary Islas and Isabel Vasquez, grandchildren Michelle and Ryan Kevorkian, and great grandchildren Gabrielle, Jachin, Makenzie, Christian, Anthony, Gabriel, Khloe and Riahnn Kevorkian.
Visitation will be held at Lisle Funeral Home on Friday, March 18, 2016 from 12:00 pm until 7:00 pm.
Funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Church on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 10:00 am. Interment to follow at St. Peters Cemetery.
