

She was born May 10, 1916, to Joseph Jr. and Alty (Rumple) Buyer. She married her husband of 61 years, Norman Durst, in 1940 at Mt. Auburn Presbyterian Church, Cincinnati.
Mildred is survived by her daughter, Karen (Richard) Kinstler of Tiffin; daughter-in-law, Dianna Durst of Anchorage, Alaska; sister, Pansy Wildman of Tipp City; three grandsons, Eric (Billie Jo) Kinstler of Gastonia, North Carolina, Zachary (Katie Thelen) Durst and Zjok Durst of Anchorage, Alaska; two granddaughters, Christy Kinstler of Cincinnati and Ashley Durst; four great-granddaughters, Megan, Meredith, Aslynn and Paityn; two sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Alta Mae Robinson; and her son, Robert.
Mildred graduated from Brookville High School in Brookville, Indiana, University of Cincinnati College of Nursing in 1937 as a registered nurse, and from Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana. She served as a public health nurse during World War II.
She enjoyed hunting when young and enjoyed fishing most of her life. She also loved gardening, sewing and various crafts. She was an active member of Monfort Heights Methodist Church in Cincinnati. She and Norman took several RV trips, including trips to Alaska and caravanning in Mexico. In recent years, she loved to read, sing old songs, attend art classes at Good Shepherd and talk on the phone to family and friends.
Her memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. Oct. 8, 2016, at Monfort Heights United Methodist Church, Cincinnati, with burial in Spring Grove Cemetery, Cincinnati.
In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to Monfort Heights United Methodist Church Building Fund, 3682 W. Fork Road, Cincinnati, OH 45247, Good Shepherd Home Chaplaincy or Activity Funds, or a charity of the donor's choice.
