with Jesus. He held his beloved wife Lillian's hand all the way to the
gates of Heaven. On December 5, 2011, he was in his home, when the
angels came, rescuing him from his courageous fight with pancreatic
cancer. Songs of praise, prayers of faith, treasured Scripture, and
hearts filled with love surrounded him. The Lord was a very present
help, faithful to his servant.
Tracy Otis was born on April 5, 1926, in Santa Cruz, Calif., to Rev.
Robert G. and Ellen Hammond.
He graduated from Apostolic Bible Institute, St. Paul, Minn., in 1946,
marrying Lillian Esther Colegrove the following day, May 13, 1946.
They ministered side by side for 65 years, the most recent pastorate
being The Olde York Church, Fremont, Ind.
Pastor Tracy also used his masonry skills to build several churches,
homes and businesses across the U.S.A. Music, joy and love filled
their life together and blessed the communities they resided in
throughout the years.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, a sister, brothers, a son
(Edwin Louis), and a son-in-law (Roy Smallwood)
Surviving are: his wife Lillian; brothers, Alfred Glen Larson and
Louis Hammond; six children, Tracy Joel (Ruth) Hammond, Treasure
Smallwood, Pastor Stanley Hammond, Daniel (Jennie) Hammond, Serena
(Pastor Sam) Hoffman, and Melody (Dan) Buehrer. Also surviving are 15
grandchildren, Trina, Tracy Lewis, Kim, Heather, George, Stephanie,
Sasha, Robert, Michael, Elyse, August, Iris, Henry, Sylvia, and
William; 10 great-grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; and four
stepgreat-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday, December 8, 2011 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at
Fairview Missionary Church, 525 E. C.R. 200N, Angola, Ind.
The celebration of Pastor Tracy's life will be on Friday December 9, 2011, at 1 PM at
Fairview Missionary Church.
There will be a graveside service for family only at York Cemetery.
