Born in Rushville, IN on September 6, 1936 to Robert and Grace Sutton (deceased). Resident of Snow Lake, Fremont, IN and formerly of Gary, IN (Miller Beach); married to William W. Baldwin on June 25, 1975.
She retired from the Gary Community School Corporation (and East Allen County Schools) after 35 years of combined service as an English teacher and department chair. Recipient of the Inland Steel-Ryerson Teacher of the Year Award; Eli Lilly Creative Teacher Fellowship (1987); a member of: Rotary International; Delta Zeta Sorority; Indiana Retired Teachers Association; former member and past officer of American Association of University Women; former member and past officer of the Board of Directors for the Gary YWCA; former member of the Order of the Eastern Star; retired member of American Federation of Teachers. She was dedicated to Literacy and volunteered in numerous literacy and educational programs. She was also artistically talented and exhibited pastels and PrismaColor drawings.
She is survived by husband William W. Baldwin, PhD; daughter Kimberly C. Covell-Campbell and son-in-law Frank Campbell, Osawatomie, KS; step-grand-daughter, Krystle Campbell (Ryan Gindlesperger), Pittsburg, PA; sisters: Sally (L.N.) Fifer, Tampa, FL; Mary Sue (Richard) Adams, Angola, IN; Margaret (Richard) Shutts, Fremont, IN; brothers R. Steven Sutton, Miller Beach, IN and Gregory (Terry) Sutton, Hamilton, IN; sister-in-law Joanne (Wayne) Lantz, Ft. Wayne, IN; and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death her parents; brother and sister-in-law Richard and Lois Sutton and nephew Kent Sutton all formerly of Wabash, IN.
Services will be held at 11 am Friday, December 30, 2016, at Beams Funeral Home, Fremont, Indiana, with Dr. William Smith officiating; interment follows at Mt. Zion United Methodist Cemetery, Pleasant Lake, IN. Calling hours will be held from 4-7 pm Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Beams Funeral Home.
