Marie Jane Martin

Marie Jane Martin (Ball), 88, of Nevada Mills, passed away July 4, 2023, at the home she had shared with her husband Darrell, near Nevada Mills, Indiana, since 1965. Marie was born in Buffalo, New York, on April 26, 1935, to Cecilia Ball.

She moved to Indiana with her first husband Donald Lee, living near Lake George, Angola and Flint. Marie later married Darrell Martin on Nov. 27, 1965, near Fremont, Indiana. They bought a drafty old farmhouse and together made it into the cozy home they lived in for the rest of their lives.

She was well known as Buffalo Gal on her home channel #2 while CB radios were popular, and met many of her dearest friends over the air and the many coffee breaks and parties they had. They and many others enjoyed her enthusiasm when playing the board game Aggravation and Euchre.

She worked at Health Equipment in Fremont for a number of years until her retirement.

She is survived by two daughters, Debbie (Richard) Sanders, of Avilla, Indiana, and Jackie (Larry) Griffin, of St. Joe, Indiana; three sons, Wayne (Brenda) Martin, of Elmore Alabama, Dane (Madelaine) Martin, of Seaford Delaware, and Ron Martin, of Zurich, Switzerland; a sister, Shirley Fleming, of Bullhead City, AZ; and an extended family of many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother, her husband Darrell Martin and a son, Gary Martin.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday July 11, 2023 at 3 p.m., at Nevada Mills Community Church, 4710 W. Bachelor Road, Angola, where she has been a member for many years. It is suggested to direct memorials to the Nevada Mills Community Church.
