Kurt “Po” Mansfield, 65, passed away peacefully at his home in Angola, Indiana, Sunday, April 14, 2024 with his loving wife, Heidi Spieth Mansfield, by his side. Kurt was the son of the late Don and Joan (Leider) Mansfield. He is survived by wife, Heidi; son, Tyler Mansfield (Erin), grandchildren Claire and twins Owen and Katie; and daughter, Whitney (Todd) Zepke, grandson Lincoln Pedraza, and four step-grandchildren Liam, Lydia, Kamden, Kiera (deceased) Zeppke, great grandson Kaine and his golden retriever Hudson. Kurt was the fifth of seven children: Eric Mansfield (Debbie), Julie (Ron) Burke, Molly Morningstar, and Katie (Mike) Alberts. Mother-in-law Eileen Spieth and father-in-law Daniel Spieth (deceased).
Kurt worked in the A/C trades and called himself the “Tin Man" when working with sheet metal. He spent many years in industrial maintenance. Kurt could fix anything and that was without the help of the internet.
Kurt's favorite hobbies were politics and religion, hence his small group of friends. He was a country music fan and loved singing along. In his younger years he spent time at the Lakes; owning one of the first PWC out on the water, his Wet Bike. Family outings included weekend trips to Fawn River for camping and canoe runs with the children. From New Haven Kurt and Heidi moved to Angola in 2017, which he always called “God's country”. One last call on house remodeling was at Little Bear Lodge; he loved his home.
A celebration of life at Little Bear Lodge will be planned for in late June.
