Katherine L Briggs

Katherine Louise Briggs, age 77, formerly of Fremont, Indiana, and Omaha, Nebraska, passed away on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at Countryside Meadows, Avon, Indiana. Katherine was born on September 12, 1941 in Grand Island, Nebraska. She graduated from Grand Island High School, and lived most of her life in Omaha, Nebraska, prior to living in Fremont. Katherine retired from Cardinal IG, Fremont, Indiana in 2006. Katherine was a very patriotic person, she loved living, and lived life to the fullest. She also was a big Nebraska Corn Huskers fan. Survivors include daughters, Virgie (Randy) Spoor of Avon, Indiana, and Kim Cantwell of St. James, Minnesota, sons, Martin (Deb) Cantwell of Angola, Indiana, and Robert (Jennifer) Shelton of Vernon Center, Minnesota, 13 grandchildren, Michael, Elizabeth, Jessica, Katherine, David, Eric, Dan, Nicky, Chelsie, James, Teresa, David, and Elizabeth, 24 great-grandchildren, and a brother, Don Lewton, Republican City, Nebraska. Katherine was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Cantwell, her parents, Cecil Edwin Lewton, and Leona Katherine (Gulzow) Hayes, and brothers, Michael Lewton, and William Lewton. A Graveside Service will be held at 2 pm Saturday, August 17, 2019 at Jamestown Cemetery, Fremont, Indiana. Rev. Jon Bruney will officiate the service.
