He was born Sept. 6, 1958, in Auburn to Glenn D. and Joyce M. ( Heffner) Covell.
Fred lived most of his life in Angola and was a 1978 graduate of Angola High School.
He attended refrigeration and heating school at ITT, Fort Wayne. He worked in trucking and farming most of his life. Fred was a type of person that never met a stranger and would help anyone. He had many friends that cared for him during his long illness. His hobbies included hunting and fishing, playing pool, and he was a member of National North American Bass Association. The family would like to invite everyone to come and celebrate Fred's life.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Travis and Shianne Covell of Pleasant Lake; a stepdaughter, Sarah Porter of Delray Beach, Fla.; two granddaughters, Arlee Jane and Myleigh Cae and another grandchild expected in November; his mother, Joyce M. Covell of Angola; two sisters, Jan Gearhart and Tod Molter of Angol and Pam Covell-Anderson and husband Pat Anderson of Fremont; a brother, Derold and Nancy Covell, and their son, Keegan Covell, of Clear Lake, Fremont; and his former wife, Elizabeth French of Angola.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1989.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Beams Funeral Home, Fremont, with Rev. Byron Adams officiating. Burial will be in Fremont Cemetery. Immediately following the burial, a celebration of his life will be held at the Fremont Moose Lodge.
Calling will be Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
