Cynthia was born in Cadillac, MI on April 14, 1955. She was the first of six children to Kathleen (Nolff) and Wilbur Elenbaas. On February 13, 1981 she married her husband of 35 years, Ronald Barkley, in Montgomery, MI. Cynthia was an avid crafter who loved to spend time sewing, quilting, knitting, and scrapbooking. She also enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, and substitute teaching. She had many friends in the Amish community.
Cynthia was preceded in death by her mother Kathleen (Nolff) Elenbaas, her father Wilbur Elenbaas, and her sister Valerie Elenbaas. She is survived by her husband Ronald Barkley; her children Matthew (Alisa) Barkley and Elizabeth (Kyle) Kelley; her sisters Gloria (Martin) Stratmoen, Karen (Michael) Franckowiak, and Gail (Jeremy) Harper; her brother David (Jennifer) Elenbaas, and numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends.
A memorial will be held on Saturday April 2, 2016 at Peace Lutheran Church in Fremont, IN. Visitation will begin at 10am, service at 11am, and lunch to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Sewing Sisters at Peace Lutheran Church 355 IN-120, Fremont, IN 46737, or the Branch County Humane Society.
