Christopher Scott Lutz of Lake Seneca and recently of rural Edon has passed away November 10th. Chris was born in 1957. He was the oldest son of Forest (Jim) and Illa (Jean) Lutz. The family moved to suburban Cooney when Chris was a toddler. He graduated from Four County Joint Vocational school in 1976. He wore a red, white and blue sport coat in his graduation photo. Notably, he was sporting a matching red velvet tie. It was the 1970’s. Chris was a vibrant character with an abundance of amusing observations about life. He was a wordsmith of colorful language. Most importantly, he was a good guy. He truly was a person who could be counted on to lend a helping hand to a friend or a stranger. As the second child of a large brood of 7 children, he loved to concoct new and inventive ways to find mischief. Translation, he was a maker of ‘mostly legal’ fun. He loved riding his Harleys and tinkering. He loved his meats and cheeses. He was making charcuterie boards before that was even a thing. His greatest joy in his life was his daughter, Sara. He was immensely proud of her many achievements. He started many conversations with, “My kid did this...” He was ecstatic to become a grandfather. His oldest grandson is his red-haired doppelganger. He was equally elated to welcome a second grandson this summer. He remarked he had “twice as many grandsons this year as he had last year.” Chris leaves behind his daughter, Sara Lutz (Mark) Snethkamp and two grandsons, Markie, and Teddy of Grosse Pointe Farms, MI. He is also survived by his mother, Jean, of rural Edon and 6 siblings: Belinda Lutz (Bill) Hamel of Oak Park, IL, Julia (Mark) Schwyn of Stroh, IN, Angela (Tom) Rupp of Oak Park, IL, Mike Lutz of Edon, Beth Lutz (Michael) Chlumecky of Chicago, IL and Eric (Cynthia Buchanan) Lutz of Glen Allen, Alaska. He was the treasured uncle to 14 nieces and nephews and 6 great nieces and nephews. He will be missed. The wake will be held at Beams Funeral Home, 200 W. Toledo Street in Fremont, Indiana. The visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 16th, with a Celebration of Life Service to follow at 11:00 am. The service will be followed by a procession to the Billingstown Cemetery. A luncheon will be served at the Northwest Community Center (the former Cooney School) located at 3091 County Road O50 in Cooney. As an homage to Chris’ love of Harley’s, the family invites guests to wear their favorite ‘motorcycle chic’. Break out your beloved Harley t-shirt, if you would like. Chris would have loved to see it. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Northwest Community Auxiliary that serves the community of Northwest Township. Donations can be sent to the Northwest Auxiliary, 19325 County Road 5.50, Montpelier, Ohio 43543 to the attention of Karen Humphrey.
