She was born on May 19, 1944 in Toledo, Ohio, the daughter of Leonard and Anne (Plenzler) Szymanowski.
She graduated from Central Catholic High School in Toledo.
Barbara was an administrative assistant and retired from Steuben County Soil and Water Conservation District in 2010 after 30 years of service. She also formerly worked as an administrative assistant for Sanborn, Steketee, Otis & Evans Architecture and Engineering firm in Toledo, Ohio.
She married Stephen L. Angel on May 13, 1967 in Toledo, Ohio.
She was a member of the St. Paul Chapel Catholic Church at Clear Lake, she was very active with the boosters, and as a member of the choir, also she was the author, editor and publisher of the Chapel Chimes newsletter for the church. She enjoyed the lake, taking pontoon rides in the evenings, when the water was quiet, and always wanted to go fishing with her husband Stephen, although, she never was able to due to her health.
Survivors include her husband, Stephen L. Angel of Fremont, Indiana, a brother, Paul and Sue Szymanowski of Las Vegas, Nevada, sisters-in-law, Chris Scott of Parker, Colorado, and Sister Marilyn Ann Angel, S.N.D., of Port Clinton, Ohio, brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Joy Angel of Toledo, Ohio, nieces, Ruthann Szymanowski, Cynthia Carter, and Laurie Alvarez, and nephews, Bradley Angel and Brian Angel.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Ronald Scott, and her grandparents.
Visitation will be held from 5 -8 pm Thursday, February 4, 2016 at Beams Funeral Home, Fremont, Indiana, with a Rosary Service at 7:30 pm.
As a note, the Mass of Christian Burial will not be held until 11 am Saturday, February 6, 2016 at St. Paul Chapel, Clear Lake, Fremont, Indiana, with Father Robert Showers and Father Wilfrid Logsdon officiating.
Burial will follow at the Covenanter Cemetery, Fremont, Indiana
Memorials are requested in care of the family to help with medical and funeral expenses.
