William David Thompson was born in Waco, Texas on July 18, 1952. He was affectionately known by those that knew him as “Tex” which was a nickname he picked up while serving in the Navy. The Navy brought him to Alameda, California where he met his wife of 47 years, Pamela Jo Haworth. They moved to San Leandro, California where they raised their two sons, Stephen and Erik and enjoyed spending time with their granddaughter, Allie.
Tex worked as an auto mechanic for most of his career and had a knack for taking things apart, putting them back together, and getting them to work again. After his career ended, he pursued various hobbies, including baking, jewelry-making, and playing the guitar. Yet, it was his love for the open road that truly ignited his spirit. Tex embraced the freedom of motorcycle riding, covering countless miles on journeys from California to Texas, always adorned in Harley Davidson gear.
On September 26, 2023, Tex passed away peacefully in his San Leandro home. He lived out the last month of his life surrounded by loved ones and indulging in his favorite foods.
Tex's memory lives on in the hearts of those who knew him. Ride Free, Tex, you will be missed.
