Monica was born on May 1, 1918 in Panay Capiz, Philippines. She grew up in Manila where she met her husband Vivencio. They both came to the United States with their children in July of 1969, arriving in San Francisco, CA. Monica was a homemaker, who enjoyed sewing, cooking delicious Filipino food and caring for her family. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who always put her family first. Her children remember her as a loving mother who was a disciplinarian yet patient and witty. Monica taught her children and grandchildren the value of dedication and hard work and encouraged them to pursue their goals.
Monica is survived by her children, Wilfred (wife Rosalinda), Pamela (husband Nando), Dexter (wife Estela), Amor (husband Angel) and daughter Minee. Her grandchildren: Bien (wife Aileen), Bernadette (husband Jake), Jose (wife Concepcion), Jennifer (husband Art), Missy (husband Justin), Ashlee (Michelle), Ryan (wife Pui), Wilinda, Eric (wife Sheryl), Heidi (husband Kyle), Daniel (wife Laura), Shaun and Chris; her great-grandchildren: Bryan (Nicole), BJ (Lea), Andrea, Amanda, Athena, Da’Jon, Evan, Elsa, Jalen, Matthew, James, Kieran, Tristen and Teagen.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Vivencio “Bob” Aranas, her son-in-law, Benjamin Arevalo Yen and her parents, Ponciano and Esperenza Ferrer. Monica and Vivencio were married for 60 years.
She will always be remembered and missed by her family and friends.
