Lucille was born in San Francisco, California on April 12, 1928. Daughter of Otto Bolling and Eveline D. (Hinvest) Bolling.
Lucille was blessed to have three Children Peggy Kiernan, Jim Bidwell and Debbie Bidwell. Grandchildren Blair Edwards, Tammy Morgan, Sandra Melo, Kristin Bidwell, Michael Bidwell, Kristina Vannucci, Arlen Bidwell and Jennifer Robbins. Great Grandchildren Delaney Watkins, Beau Edwards, Sydney Edwards, Brian Morgan, Robbie Morgan, Madison Melo, Matthew Melo, Cassius Bidwell, Kacey Wills-Pursch, Amethyst Brown, and Julia Scott. Great-Great Grandchildren Jack, Grey and Blair Watkins.
Survived by her beloved Sister Marion Smith, Nieces Heather Smith and April Hoppis, Grand Nephews Austin and Hunter Hoppis and Ethan Legalado.
Married Richard Carl Bidwell on December 4, 1949 in San Francisco. She was widowed in 1987 when Richard died. Lucille found love again and married Glenn Humrich 1989 and was widowed in 2001.
When she was a little girl she loved to dance. She studied and performed ballet and tap dancing. She could even do the splits!! While living in Rossmoor later in life, she performed in a tap-dancing group in on the Stage.
Lucille was unable to finish high school, she had to take on a job at Macy’s to help with the family finances. Lucille was a very loving woman, always looking for ways to help and care for those she loved. She enjoyed reading articles and learning. She loved
to save them and share them with family members whom she thought would benefit from them.
Once her children were grown, she took art classes at Oholne College, she loved to draw and paint. She also took an upholstery class at the College of San Mateo to reupholster our couch and chairs in the living room. She was a fantastic seamstress and made draperies and her daughter Debbie’s beautiful wedding dress.
Lucille enjoyed talking to people and loved to make them laugh. She collected jokes and really liked sharing them. She also liked to write short stories and jokes. Her last writing was a short story about the wild turkeys that lived near her. The staff at her assisted living published it and all the residents loved it and encouraged her to write more.
Lucille loved sweets so much, she would commonly say “I am saving my extra calories for the day to have a piece of chocolate”. She always had a box of her favorite chocolates, that’s right See’s Candy. Biscotti and fudge were some of her holiday banking specialties and they were yummy. She would share them with her friends and caretakers.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am at Lima Milpitas-Fremont Mortuary, with graveside at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park at 48800 Warm Springs Blvd., Fremont CA 94539.
Rick Miller will be Officiating, there will be a family gathering at Jim Bidwell’s house at 4935 Myrtle Dr., Concord CA 94521.
